Parkex 2014, Europe's largest dedicated parking exhibition, was held in London at the National Hall, Olympia on 10th - 11th June, and it proved to be a tremendous success.

Total attendance was 2,021 over the two days, which is an 8% increase on the previous London Parkex event. Attendees were able to meet 120 global suppliers, who showcased the latest parking technology. Visitors also exchanged fresh ideas with experts at the highly-popular Parkex Hub (a new initiative for 2014, which featured a dynamic, evolving conversation at the very heart of the exhibition). At the Parkex Hub, attendees discovered innovative ways of improving efficiency and reducing service costs. The programme for the Parkex Hub was co-developed by the BPA and the Association for Town and City Management, and it revolved around the theme of 'Future Proofing Parking.'

You can watch two videos of the Parkex Hub sessions on the ‘Politics of Parking’ and the ‘PR of Parking’ by visiting our YouTube channel.

The exhibitor-list at Parkex read like a who's who in parking, and included: APT Skidata, NSL, WPS Parking, Parkeon, Scheidt & Bachmann, Designa, Metric Group, ACS, Ringo, Parkmobile, New Park, Mouchel, Marston, Nagels, Capita, SWARCO, SEA and ICES.

Robert Goodwill MP, Under Secretary of State for Transport, gave the opening address at the Parkex Hub. He said that the vast majority of parking is managed in a proportionate way and that effective parking management is essential for business survival and growth, and is critical for an expanding economy. The Minister also praised private parking operators for their successful efforts at self-regulation. He was delighted with their professional response.

At the BPA's stand, visitors were able to meet the BPA team, who were pleased to answer questions from BPA members and non-members, while also discussing the most pressing issues in parking. The team from WAMITAB, our awarding-body partner, was on hand to discuss the suite of BPA qualifications, and specialist advice on two BPA initiatives (the Approved Operator Scheme and Safer Parking Scheme) was also available.

The British Parking Association and the entire Parkex Organising Team would like to say a big thank you to all the exhibitors, speakers, and visitors who attended Parkex this year, contributing to its success.

We would also like to thank everyone who took part at the Parkex Hub, which was the focal point for numerous lively debates on a variety of parking issues.
