PayByPhone Services Expand

PayByPhone is the new cashless parking provider across Transport for London’s (TfL) car parks, which are managed by NCP. Drivers will be able to use PayByPhone’s services to pay for parking at any of TfL’s 80 station NCP car parks. PayByPhone users can use the service without any parking transaction fees and can also pay to receive reminder messages prior to their ticket expiry. The PayByPhone app allows users to extend their parking sessions remotely with the Extend-From-Anywhere feature.

Jonny Combe, UK CEO of PayByPhone, said: ‘After signing the agreement with NCP last year, this is another exciting stage in our partnership. Mobile parking payments have many advantages to drivers and to parking operators, and help make the parking experience more hassle-free.’Additionally, motorists in Sandwell Council’s 50 car parks and 55 on-street bays can now benefit from the app. Customers in the Black Country metropolitan borough will still be able to access traditional parking ticket machines that accept coins.  Monthly or annual parking permits will not be affected by the addition of PayByPhone’s cashless parking.

PayByPhone, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Financial Services, has expanded into Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain. This follows PayByPhone’s recent announcement of its UK acquisition of Mirada Connect Ltd. Meaning that the service is now available in more than 500 cities in 12 countries around the world (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States), with nearly 29.1 million registered users paying for parking via the PayByPhone app or website.

PayByPhone’s new chief product officer has been announced as Stephen Lazenby. An experienced software product and development leader, Lazenby comes from Global Relay Communications, where he was Global Head of Product.
