Participate in the TRO Discovery Survey

Do you use or require information about the movement of traffic on the road network?

Many people and organisations are affected by the rules and regulations guiding the way that people, vehicles, cyclists and even horses use the roads.

Movement on the road network is managed by local councils using Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs). Some examples of TROs are speed limits, parking restrictions, restrictions on the movement of HGVs and closure of roads for street works, street parties and parades.

The British Parking Association are pleased to collaborate with the Department for Transport, GeoPlace, the and Ordnance Survey on the TRO Discovery Project. We will be conducting a discovery into the process by which TROs are made, and how TRO data is made available and used across the country. The first stage of this project, led by GeoPlace, is to gather real world evidence to

  • see where the TRO process is working
  • identify how to deliver the most from the current system, and
  • how to support the transport network of the future.
