Congratulations to Nigel Williams who has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Parking Awards 2019.

A 30-year career has seen Nigel work in the UK, mainland Europe and the Middle East, acquiring an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the business. An architecture graduate from Cambridge University, he has held positions including Managing Director of Vinci Park UK (now Saba) and was Development Director for Q-Park UK.

As well as running his own consultancy Parking Matters and its French sister Statiom, Nigel serves as the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the British Parking Association (BPA) He is also a member of the European Parking Association (EPA)’s Board of Directors, co-chair of their e-payment working group, chair of the Alliance for Parking Data Standards (APDS) and co-creator of the annual Parking & Property conference.

Nigel has been responsible for driving forward a number of initiatives for the BPA. He chaired a working group to introduce a Model Contract for managing on-street parking enforcement and oversaw a major restructuring of the Association with an enhanced focus on membership support, benefits and engagement to meet the challenges of an evolving sector. This has helped position the BPA as a modern, forward thinking membership association.

His personal commitment to the local authority led Positive Parking Agenda continues as does his dedication to ensuring that parking is an integral and positive element in the mobility experience.
