A Review of the Members' Dinner 2019

BPA Members Dinner 2019 724x482 v3

On 20 November, the BPA Member’s Dinner returned to the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms for a night to remember. The evening started with a lavish drink reception and saw the return of our very own BPA pianist Julian O’Kelly.

Our President John McArdle took to the stage before the delectable fine dining, putting a spotlight on encouraging diversity and participation, two of his focuses for the duration of his term.  As with previous years, the winner of the Ernest Davies Award was announced. This year we enjoyed a high number of strong entries and the winners were Daniel Casey and Dean Fennell-Connell with their article entitled Recognising the scale of workplace violence in parking management

The night also saw the premiere of our new animation Beyond Parking, which demonstrates how our members are at the forefront of research and technology.

We also kept Marie Curie at the forefront of our thoughts on the evening, with guests generously donating a total of £9,043 through a silent and live auction. This will help Marie Curie to provide 50 full nights of nursing care to those battling a terminal illness.

The night concluded with guests enjoying our pop-up casino and dancing the night away with our resident DJ Franck Bombard.

We are already planning our Gala Dinner for 2020 which will return to the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms where we will celebrate our 50th anniversary year in style.

A range of photographs of the event is now available to view and order online from Smile Photography.
Photographs taken at tables are also available on request. Please contact Nick Dawson at Smile Photography if you would like to enquire about the photographs.

Thank you to our 2019 Sponsors!

Our President Zulfiqar Ali took to the stage after the delectable fine dining, putting a spotlight on Professionalism and Professional development, his two focuses for the duration of his term.  As with previous years, the winner of the Ernest Davies Award was announced. This year we enjoyed a high number of strong entries and the winner was Leslie Donohue-Bromley with his article titled the risks of lithium ion electric vehicles and considerations for the parking industry.

Peter Shilton delighted guests with stories and insights of his exceptional, 125-cap career. In one account, Peter described the moment he scored a goal kick, in thick fog, not believing his achievement until he got home and watched the footage for himself!
