Skills and Qualifications

As the BPA continues to raise standards and encourage professionalism across our ever growing sector, Skills and Qualifications should remain at the forefront of our minds.

Recent months have seen some significant achievements in this area and the BPA are proud of the direction in which we are heading. Accrediting new qualifications, having a full suite of new standards approved and joining forces with the IPP to bring closer links in the work we do to support individuals and employers alike are just some of the things we are proud to have delivered.

As a result, the sector is increasingly hungry for more and we are now able to bring a full update to this area of our website which will hopefully point you in the right direction when it comes to your professional development, or that of your team.

Over these pages, we aim to bring you the following key information points which might help you shape your future, and that of our challenging but fascinating sector.

The Skills and IPP Board

Formerly UK SKILLS BOARD FOR PARKING, this page outlines the constitution of the board that now drives our work, how this relates to you and why it is so important. From here, you can find details of those elected to represent you as we drive our professionalism agenda forward, as well as information about our key business aims and some headlines of things to watch out for in the world of parking skills and qualifications

Up-Skilling the Parking Sector (Formerly UK Parking Sector Skills Strategy)

This outlines the difference in accredited qualifications and in house training and development programmes. It also offers advice on how to make the best of your own skill set in the recession through proactive CPD and what this might mean to you.

Raising Standards and Best Practice (Formerly National Occupational Standards)

We have been talking about National Occupational Standards for long enough, but now they are finally written and approved by both the sector and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, we are proud to be able to present them to you here. We have also included some information about how these can actually benefit you in your own career, or the development of your teams.

Qualifications

This page really does what it says it might. We have endeavoured to bring you all the latest information on qualifications that are specific to the parking sector, along with any other information you might need when considering them.

Resources

This page has multiple functions. As well as a range of links which you might find useful in your search for information about skills and qualifications for your work in parking, we have posted a suite of important documents and reports for your information. These are largely the more technical side of our work and will give a great deal of detail in to how we have got to where we are today, and the processes involved.

If your questions aren’t answered once you have scanned through these pages, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
