Following the recent re-assessment of the Safer Parking Park Mark® award at the Ashford Designer Outlet in Kent the award has been successfully retained for their car park.
Over the past year, around 1 million vehicles have used the car park but no criminal activity has been reported – an excellent record. This is a testament to the personnel on site, which is managed by Vinci Park Ltd, together with their very good management practices. The site is regularly patrolled with staff wearing high visibility clothing who also afford excellent customer care, good CCTV cover and natural surveillance, which is enhanced by the fact the parking area is within a ‘bowl’ shape and slightly below the pedestrian walkways around the retail units. The area is kept very clean with the landscaping also being regularly maintained to enhance the CCTV, lighting and natural surveillance.
In addition to the parking arrangements, other facilities available include Customer Information, disabled access and wheelchair hire, cafés and restaurants, a children's play area, baby-changing rooms, tax-free shopping and child safe shopping.
Mike Bibby, the Safer Parking Scheme area manager who carreid out the assessment with Des Connolly, the police accredited assessor, said, “I am pleased the award has been retained for a further twelve months and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all personnel involved, resulting in any issues being kept to the absolute minimum, thus creating a safe and non-threatening environment for customers. The dedication of the whole management team is quite obvious and well worthy of this award”.
