Are you aware of the new cookie law?

12 June 2012

A new law has been passed which changes the way websites use cookies. Websites were given one year to get their website compliant inline with the new regulations and this expired at the end of May.

Have you spotted what is new on our website? When you visit the BPA website now you will notice a banner running along the bottom of the webpage. This alerts you to the use of cookies, the ability to switch cookies off and a link to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website to find out more information.

Cookies are useful for companies to understand how people use their website. For example, what pages are popular and how viewers have found the page.

Is your website compliant? The ICO have published updated guidance to help organisations comply with the new changes.

More information? The ICO have also published information for individuals which explains more about what a cookie is and how it is used.
