Safer parking is now easy to find for drivers in Three Rivers as 17 local car parks are awarded Park Mark accreditation.

The Constabulary’s Crime Prevention Design Advisors (CPDAs) have worked with the local council to assess its local car parks on their levels of security and feelings of safety.

Local Inspector Catherine Akehurst presented Three Rivers Council with the‘Park Mark®’ award at their head office in Rickmansworth for the 17 car parks receiving accreditation.

CPDA Mike Sibley said: “Whilst there are some simple ways we can help to keep our vehicles secure – always locking doors and shutting windows securely, removing all valuables and keeping everything else out of sight - the Park Mark award is a great way for members of the public to make informed decisions on where to park their vehicle.

“These car parks scored highly on good management practices, regular visits by car park inspectors and being cleaned and landscaped regularly, meaning users feel safe and are confident their vehicles are being well looked after. We look forward to working with our partners to help them achieve similar status with other parking facilities across the county.”

“I am particularly pleased Three Rivers District Council has been successfully assessed and believe they will prove to be worthy award holders,” commented Ian Carmichael, Safer Parking Scheme Development Manager for East Anglia & Chilterns. “We are all aware of the current economic situation and the restrictions which Local Authorities are under, but Peter Kerr, Three Rivers’ Car Park Manager and team have ensured that a safer environment has been provided. I would personally like to congratulate all involved for their efforts.”
