Mid Sussex District council have once again retained their Park
Mark® status on 17 parking facilities under their remit.
Relevant recorded crime related incidents over the past twelve
months revealed just nine had been reported across these facilities. With an annual throughput of around 1.65m
vehicles, which equates to the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime as
approximately 1 in 183,400. This is an
excellent record resulting in safe and non-threatening environments being
created.
Users of these facilities in Hassocks, Haywards Heath, Burgess
Hill, Hurstpierpoint, Cuckfield and East Grinstead can be assured every effort
is being made by the council to keep any problems to the absolute minimum. Management practices are of a very good
standard – regularly visited by Civil Enforcement Officers, good lighting,
signage and CCTV cover to some of the facilities to mention a few of the
components involved to meet the requirements of the award. Their working practices and actual condition
of the car parks is an excellent example for other Local Authorities as to what
can be achieved.
Mike Bibby said, “It gives me great pleasure to commend Mid Sussex
District Council on this achievement and I would like to take this opportunity
to congratulate all personnel involved. Users of these facilities can be
confident the council are making every effort to ensure their safety and that
of their vehicles is taken seriously, which is reflected in the extremely low
incidents recorded”.
This was as a result of recent re-assessments being completed by
Dennis Donovan, the Sussex Police Accredited Assessor and Mike Bibby (Development Manager – South East).
