Until recently, it was traditional for the BPA President to choose a new charity each year. The Association supports and raises money for this charity at our events, including Parkex and the Members’ Dinner.
In 2016, our Council of Representatives agreed that the BPA should develop a longer-term relationship with a charity. We received nominations and, following a selection process, five charities were shortlisted for members to choose from. The charity with the most votes was Marie Curie.
We are delighted to support a charity that shares values compatible with our own and one that fundraises across the whole of the UK. This gives our members the opportunity to develop regional connections and help raise money in support of the amazing work that Marie Curie does as the UK’s leading charity for people living with any terminal illness, and their families.
The charity offers expert care, guidance and support to help people with a terminal illness and their families get the most from the time they have left.
Since BPA President Stephen Brown announced the partnership at his Parliamentary Reception in June, we have seen members getting involved in a number of fundraising events across the country to raise money for this very worthy cause.
