The Park Mark® Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO/S) and is aimed at reducing both crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities. Look for the Park Mark® tick to ensure safer parking.

Why?

Today, around 20% of all crime in the UK is vehicle related.

Although vehicle related crime has come down by about a third since 1997, we want to bring the number of crime incidents in car parking environments down even further to ensure you and your vehicle are safe in the UK’s car parks. The Park Mark Safer Parking Scheme works with car park operators to ensure they of a good standard, providing a safe environment and reducing the fear of crime.

What does it mean?

Car parks which have been awarded the Park Mark tick have been assessed by the police and our development managers, and proved they meet the required standards and offer. This includes:

• Quality Management
• Adequate lighting
• Effective surveillance
• Clean environment

When choosing where to park, look out for police accredited parking. Look for the Park Mark tick.
