INSTITUTE OF PARKING PROFESSIONALS ENCOURAGING EXCELLENCE

The Institute of Parking Professionals is an independent body representing individuals engaged in the UK parking and traffic management sector.

Code of Practice and Compliance Monitoring

Code of Practice

The AOS is supported by the BPA Code of Practice for parking on private land - Version 2 March 2013

There is also a Welsh language version of the BPA Code of Practice for parking on private land - October 2012.

Code of Practice - October 2012 This version will be referred to in relation to any issues of non-compliance taking place up to but not including 13th March 2012

Code of Practice - November 2011  This version will be referred to in relation to any issues of non-compliance taking place up to but not including October 1st 2012

Continued membership to the Association is dependent on operators in this sector signing up to the Code of Practice and joining the AOS. Anyone involved in any form of off-street enforcement, as detailed above, and wishing to join the BPA must join the Approved Operator Scheme.

An Operator Guide to accompany the Code has been produced to provide advice for members on every aspect of operating on private land.

Compliance Monitoring Programme

The compliance monitoring programme offers practical advice and guidance to members, whilst delivering regular site assessments and operational audits and addressing compliance issues that have arisen from complaints made by members of the public.

Because only the most professional and reputable operators will be able to satisfy the rigorous compliance criteria, the scheme will enable these members to set themselves apart as operators at the level of ‘Best Practice’. Over time therefore, ownership of the AOS logo, the Safer Parking Scheme logo, and membership to the BPA will help members to provide a feeling of safety and confidence for motorists when they choose to use a car park that is identified in this way.
