BPA is good for your health

After recently sponsoring an award category at the inaugural Disabled Motoring UK Awards in October, we can reveal that we will once again be taking to the stage to support the Health Business Awards on December 8th

The Transport and Logistics Award is awarded to the NHS Trust that has seen improvements in operational logistics including emergency services transport and coordination; fleet management; green transport; car parking and traffic management; postal services; and the supply of materials and goods.

The BPA has a strong connection with the health sector. Not only are there numerous NHS Trusts with car parks in the Safer Parking Scheme, there are many operators who managing car parks at healthcare facilities. Add to that the publication of the Charter for Hospital Parking, which has to date achieved 70 signatories, endorsing the fair for all not free for all mantra first adopted by our friends the NHS Confederation, and the establishment of a special interest group for healthcare parking, and there are a lot of good reasons why effective parking provision is good for your health.

The BPA is also a regular contributor to Health Business magazine, highlighting and raising relevant parking and traffic management issues to the sector. Parking at hospitals and healthcare facilities is often not as straightforward as it perhaps should be and it is one of the BPA’s roles to bring to the attention of all users – staff, visitors, patients – and to local councillors and MPs, the many significant issues that need to be addressed to deliver effective parking provision for the benefit of all.
